Conveyor enclosed to avoid contamination
Troax UK has designed and installed a multi-tiered transfer tunnel to prevent contamination of vehicles on an overhead conveyor line at IBC Vehicles' upgraded Vauxhall plant in Luton. The transfer enclosure was installed during a major refurbishment programme at IBC Vehicles carried out by Haden Drysys International. The steel transfer tunnel is located several metres above ground level and completely encloses the overhead, automatic conveyor.
The conveyor transports commercial vehicle bodies from a drying oven to other areas of the paint line.
In compliance with Health and Safety and environmental legislation, the enclosure reduces the risk of cross-contamination and helps IBC Vehicles achieve the highest possible quality standards.
Troax designed the walls, roof and internal floor of the enclosure using a single skin partitioning system constructed from solid, pressed steel panels with a galvanised finish.
The panels protect it from substances used in the paint lines.
The steel panels have a flush face, so are easy to clean down.
Fire-rated, they have a mineral wool core, which also reduces noise levels.
Troax carried out a full contract management service for the installation at IBC Vehicles.
The company undertook all aspects of design, installation and commissioning of the transfer tunnel enclosure, and ensured compliance with all the requirements of Haden Drysys and IBC vehicles.
