Chart helps select conveyor belt lacing
A new pocket-sized, three-fold slide chart from Flexco provides a complete, convenient guide to selecting, installing and troubleshooting Clipper Wire Hook conveyor belt splices for optimum service in light-duty applications. The initial slide panel features side notches marked to accurately identify eleven belt thicknesses from 1/16' (1.6mm) to 25/64' (10.0mm), as the basis for fastener sizing. Moving the same slide panel's indicator to the appropriate belt thickness selection brings hook size designations into viewing windows, which also note corresponding wire diameter, minimum pulley diameter and connecting pin diameter specifications.
Hook size designations are color-coded black or blue to indicate availability of carded or Unibar styles, respectively.
Carded style holds individual wire hooks together with a stiff paper channel that is removed after the hooks are locked into the installation machine and ready to receive the belt end.
Welded style features individual hooks welded in position along a common crosswire for easier handling and installation.
The second slide panel distinguishes five wire-hook metals in terms of performance characteristics and availability by hook size.
It also describes six hinge-pin alternatives by their performance characteristics and compositions.
The reverse side (third slide panel) provides an illustrated troubleshooting guide in which various possible operating problems are referenced to solutions that promote improved, longer-lasting splices.
The fourth panel offers illustrated tips for optimal splice installation, showing what to look for in a good finished splice.
Its reverse side overviews the Clipper Roller Lacer, for easy, consistent, on-site lacing of wide belts, and the 845LD Cutter, which supplements the company's earlier steel cutter line with 15% lighter-weight aluminum alternatives that offer easier portability plus added features for improved operation and safety.
