Novel conveyor combines best of chain and roller
The Skillet-TTS conveyor offers advances in conveyor techniques while remaining reliable, flexible and economicalThe latest development to emerge from the Durr Conveyor Group is the inverted Skillet Twin Trolley System conveyor. Designed and built by the Durr Group, in Turin, Italy, the Skillet-TTS conveyor offers advances in conveyor techniques while remaining reliable, flexible and economical. The most novel aspect of the Skillet-TTS is its innovative amalgamation of two proven technologies.
The TTS combines the benefits of an economical chain-based system typically used over long distances, with the advantages of a space-saving, flexible, roller bed system.
Like a roller bed system, it is modular and loads can be switched or the layout easily modified.
Like a chain-based system, it can not only travel long distances, but move smoothly around bends in the track.
Skillets traditionally operate as working platforms on which the operators can travel with the vehicle being assembles.
Skillets are driven with one or more fixed drive units that move the Skillet along by pushing one against the other.
In the Skillet-TTS system, the Skillet is either hung from or supported above the TTS track.
Mounted off the Skillet is a lift unit which provides a variable working height for operators whilst maintaining an extremely stable load condition.
Where the Skillet drive system is not required outside of the manual work stations, the TTS belt drive technology enables speeds of up to 100m/min.
The Skillet-TTS Conveyor has modular software and modular construction, allowing for easy insertion in existing installations.
It is a multi-directional system and has variable speed range and ergonomic features, along with a total standardisation of hardware components, cabinets, and control desks.
A decoupler area between the parallel assembly lines allows free access for material supply.
In the assembly marriage area, the hanger can raise and lower using a scissor mechanism which enables stable body location, and has a stroke of typically 4,0m.
The Skillet-TTS is a universal system that can be used either as an overhead or as a floor-based conveyor.
It can also integrate with other material handling systems and with their components.
The Skillet-TTS offers * standardised electrical components * standardised and reduced dimensions in the electrical cabinets * no need for lubrication * smooth, silent operation * ease of operation and low maintenance * smooth TTS to Skillet drive transfer, transmitting from one system to another * very stable load With its low cost of installation, maintenance and operation and a reduction in installation time, the Skillet-TTS offers a more cost-effective solution than traditional electromonorail systems.
There is improved up time and complex installations can be completed more rapidly due to the modular based system.
A test system of the inverted Skillet -TTS has been installed comprising a 90-m conveyor with 11 platforms, with a load capacity of 2500kg per Skillet.
The speed of the skillet conveyor is variable from 2-4m/min, the speed of the TTS from 2,4-4,8m/min in the working areas and 12-26 m/min in buffer areas.
