Conveyor pulley lagging helps minimise belt slips
Light-duty conveyor pulley lagging helps minimize belt slippage and extend pulley life in light/medium-duty conveyor systems using pulleys as small as 2in (50mm) in diameter.Flex-Lag Light-Duty conveyor pulley lagging from Flexco helps minimize belt slippage and extend pulley life in light/medium-duty conveyor systems using pulleys as small as 2in (50mm) in diameter. Featuring a molded-in surface pattern of small, raised, flat-topped buttons that grip the belt while channeling away under-belt moisture, Light-Duty Flex-Lag improves pulley-to-belt traction across a wide range of operating and washdown conditions. The round button pattern also helps shed fines, dust and other dry materials to retard wear of both lagging and belting.
In addition to improving drive-pulley traction and over-all conveyor productivity, lagging prevents face wear on any pulley drum, especially bend and snub pulleys and impact idlers.
Offered in black rubber (SBR) or white nitrile rubber, Light-Duty Flex-Lag is rated at 60-70 durometer hardness for high resistance to abrasion and long service life, yet is flexible enough to conform easily to a small-pulley radius.
Black SBR lagging, better suited for outdoor applications, offers high abrasion resistance, with good weather, ozone and abrasion resistance plus moderate acid resistance.
White nitrile lagging, suitable for food industry applications, has excellent resistance to oils, with good resistance to abrasion, ozone and weather, acids and fats.
Recommended maximum operating temperature for both types is 150EF (65EC), as established by the maximum temperature rating for the adhesives that bond the lagging onto pulley drums.
Light-Duty Flex-Lag is approximately 0.25in (6mm) thick and supplied in rolls 7.9in (200mm) wide by 10.8ft (3.3m) long, easily cut into strips to suit pulley dimensions for minimal waste.
One roll is enough to cover five pulleys 4in (102mm) in diameter and 12in (305mm) long.
Strips are cold-bonded onto the pulley drum one at a time until the entire pulley face is covered.
Unlike hot-vulcanized lagging and traditional cold-bonded sheet lagging, Flexco lagging strips can be installed on-site using simple hand tools without removing the pulley from the conveyor system, greatly reducing downtime and labor costs.
The bonding side of the lagging material is factory-prebuffed to further shorten installation time.
