Catalogue details hinged conveyor fasteners
An international 20-page color catalog, in English, French, German and Spanish, gives full specifying information on three types of hinged fasteners for for light-duty conveyors.
An international 20-page color catalog from Flexco, offered in English, French, German and Spanish languages, gives full specifying information on three types of Alligator (brand) hinged fasteners for light-duty conveyor and flat power-transmission belts, plus hinge-pin alternatives and splicing tools. The Alligator Fastening Systems Catalog opens with an introduction to Flexco's Web site and a four-step guide for fastener selection. Multi-page sections then present Alligator Ready Set Staple, Alligator Belt Lacing and Alligator Plastic Rivet Fastener Systems, with all elements and installation tools illustrated, and ordering specifications in chart format.
The Ready Set Staple Fastener system, Flexco's strongest light-duty hinged-plate design, features hammer-driven staples that are pre-inserted to speed installation.
Three sizes accommodate pulley diameters down to 2' (50 mm), and belts from 1/16in to 1/4in (1.5-6.4mm) thick with mechanical fastener ratings of 100 to 200 PIW (pounds per inch of belt width) or its metric equivalent of 17-35kN/m.
Four metals tailor Ready Set for different operating environments.
Alligator Belt Lacing, Flexco's simplest system, provides a stamped-metal strip of hinge loops, each forming an open 'jaw' with points turned inward to form teeth that are hammer-driven through the belt end; no special tools are needed.
This yields a flat, smooth joint that serves belts in power-transmission as well as conveying.
Here, hinge pin selection adds a corrugated type that prevents pin migration and a two-pin rocker type that minimizes friction between pins and hinge loops.
Eleven sizes allow pulley diameters as small as 1in (25mm), and belts up to 1/2in (12.5mm) thick with mechanical fastener ratings up to 200 PIW (35kN/m).
Alligator Plastic Rivet Fasteners avoid the high cost and delays of vulcanized splicing where metal fasteners cannot be used.
Upper plates have two molded-in rivets positioned opposite holes in the lower plate.
The fasteners are installed using Flexco's patented Spin-Set tool, which compresses the plates and secures them by spin-peening the rivet heads into protective pockets molded into the lower plates.
Two sizes allow pulley diameters down to 1.1/2in (38 mm), and belts up to 1/8in (3.2mm) thick with mechanical fastener ratings up to 65 PIW (11kN/m).
In addition, the catalog features tools for safer cutting of square, straight belt ends.
It also includes clamps for drawing belt ends together for splicing.
Tools for other splice installation tasks, such as grooving or removing top cover for a lower splice profile, also are shown.
