Bagging Weigher goes electronic

Clyde Materials Handling has added a new exciting model to the family of Richard Simon nett weighers. Improved speed and precision were highlighted as the two main criteria for this new design but it was also made clear that established performance and reliability should not be compromised. The company believe that the new Electro UBM, which is the result of significant customer and user input, sets exciting new standards for fast accurate bag filling.
The current gravity fed UBM uses a two-position, pneumatically activated feed gate.
The main gate closes when 80% of the required weighment has been reached and thereafter a trickle feed continues until the target weight is achieved.
Pneumatic activators are relatively slow and operation can be inconsistent during fluctuating operational conditions.
The new EUBM dispenses with the traditional pneumatics and uses electronically controlled and driven actuators to control the feed gate.
No lubrication is present in the system to cause any contamination problems and the feed gate can now be closed progressively allowing higher operating speeds and greater precision.
The EUBM can be used to fill bags from 15-50 kg and a wide range of feed mechanisms can be incorporated.
A full easy-clean stainless steel version is available which allows rapid cleaning for expedient product line changes.
Customers are already seeing impressive improvements in filling speeds of up to 40% and in one case, a major elastomer producer has reduced give-away from 50g to 8g per 25kg bag.
Given the daily throughput of such a plant this equates to a projected annual reduction in give-away of over 200 tonnes!
