Tamper evident tub gives boost to thermoforming
The first thermoformed tamper evident solution for food packaging, developed by RPC Bebo Plastik, has given Humana Milchunion eG a stylish and practical container for its Sanobub ice cream brand.
The first commercially launched thermoformed tamper evident solution for food packaging, developed by RPC Bebo Plastik, has given Humana Milchunion eG a stylish and practical container for its Sanobub ice cream brand. The Humana Milchunion Group is one of the international leaders among milk-processing companies, realising a turnover of 2.8 billion Euros and processing a volume of 3.3 billion kilograms of milk. Humana Milchunion wanted a container that would combine effective product security with easy opening for consumer convenience.
At the same time, cost-effectiveness was a critical issue, as the solution needed to be compatible with Humana's existing filling lines.
RPC Bebo Plastik, working in close co-operation with Humana and one of its tooling suppliers, realised that a thermoformed design offers a number of practical advantages over alternative packaging formats.
It is more lightweight than any alternative injection moulded solution, whilst the polystyrene material provides excellent impact resistance at deep-freeze temperatures.
The tamper-evident effect is achieved through the creation of a channel around the rim of the tub, which acts as a seal when the lid is fitted.
A tab is incorporated into the channel to enable consumers to break the seal in order to open the lid.
The aesthetic appeal of the tub is enhanced by colourful wraparound labelling.
'RPC Bebo Plastik's innovative design delivers new possibilities in tamper-evident food packaging, and highlights the company's expertise in thermoforming,' comments Mr.Janshen, managing director of Humana Milchunion eG.
