Air operated handling equipment is use in hazardous areas and includes explosive atmospheres and operating in dust, humidity, aggressive atmospheres and even temperature extremes.

The range of air operated handling equipment manufactured by J D Neuhaus has been designed for use in hazardous areas. This includes not only explosive atmospheres as covered by the ATEX legislation, but also operating conditions involving dust, humidity, aggressive atmospheres and even temperature extremes that can be experienced in general industrial environments. The JDN handling equipment, which covers cranes, hoists and winches, all carry as standard an ATEX classification of Ex II 2 GD IIA T4 (X) /II 3 GD IIB T4 (X).

Different levels of equipment spark protection can also be supplied for operation in explosion groups IIB or IIC if required.

Typical areas involving recognised high risk or danger of explosion include both on and off-shore oil or gas operations, cement and chemical plants, together with power generation and mining.

However, many other industries can also benefit from the inherent safety of air operated (rather than electric powered) lifting/lowering/travelling/pulling operations as offered by the JDN products.

Overhead travelling cranes, underslung cranes and slewing jib cranes, together with other bespoke variations can be supplied.

These can include single or double girder units, featuring single or parallel hoist operation, with load capacities up to 50 tonnes and spans up to 18m.

The JDN EH range of monorail hoists can be supplied for loads from 10 to 100 tonnes.

This can be extended up to 200 tonnes for tandem lifting operations with typical applications, including BOP handling, where special rack and pinion drives and swing dampening can also be incorporated for marine operations to minimise the dangers of operating with heavy loads in rough sea conditions.

Overload protection and emergency stop features are provided as standard with this equipment.

The JDN Profi range of hoists cover load capacities from 0.25-100 tonnes, with mini and economy line products suitable for loads from 125-980kg.

These hoists are all fitted with single hook suspension, with manual or air operated I beam trolleys also available for capacities up to 16 tonnes to provide load-travel facilities.

For both pulling and lifting operations, air operated winches can also be supplied covering capacities from 500 to 3000kg.

All JDN cranes, hoists and winches can be fitted with direct mechanical or indirect pneumatic pendant type controllers, with remote radio controlled handling also possible where these specialised requirements are warranted.

All products are powered by well proven vane motors which are designed to be safe, quiet, economical and responsive as well as being virtually maintenance-free and corrosion proof.

Operating requirements are a 6 bar pressure air supply, and working conditions within a temperature range of -20 deg to + 70 deg C, to ensure 100% duty ratings of motors involving long duty cycles and constant switching.
